» Some Suggestions

As someone who has been on several role play sites, being an affiliate can potentially help a site gain more members and a bigger population overall. I see there is a place to place an add for affiliation here, but no scrolling or static affiliates anywhere on the board. We have many buttons, but no place to put anyone else's buttons. Affilliates definitely get clicked on a lot more than simple ads, being more out in the open (and being buttons) on roleplay sites.

I see there is topsite place, but perhaps there can be a box at the top or bottom of the forum with a link to your topsite section next to it. More sites are willing to affiliate if they know their sites are directly visible.

Another thought: where are we on positions here? Alena, I know you are a head admin here. Does anyone else who still hangs around hold a position, or do these places need to be divvied out through applications again?

In the meanwhile, it would help to go through old members and threads and move them to an archive of some sort, and be rid of the accounts that haven't been active for forever and a day.

Other than that, it would help if remaining members could advertise for the site ... I will see if I can come up with an ad, and post it somewhere for others to use as well. Advertising is easy - you can look in the ad forums and visit the sites there, and advertise in their ad forums. While it may not apply here, never advertise where we have just advertised already. And don't spam ad places either.

Deleting old topics and members is a good idea.

Yeah, I see where the affiliates are, though I didn't see it right away. A lot of sites just prefer to affiliate with you if you have your affiliates buttons out in the open; it makes them different from simple ads in a forum because they are visible the moment someone visits your site, as yours is usually visible on theirs. Like the latest site to affiliate in the thread, they have the site button in a scroll right when you visit the site.

You could even make a forum and set button codes in the description if it is easier. I have done that on a writing forum I am helping get up and going because I cannot work the templates (it is phpbb3, and they changed the layout, and now I have no idea how to work it like the old phpbb).

Would you be interested in making a visible affiliates list, or know how? I could help however I can if you wanted. Up to you in the end though.

All righty, no worries then. So I have advertised on a few sites in the meanwhile, we'll see if that helps. If anything else comes to mind I'll let ya know, but as of yet my brain is half dead.

*sighs* The whims of the younger generation are what is causing the slow deterioration of various fansites.

School, Jobs, Family/friend tragedes, and animes not ending like we have liked are also factors.

As a person who has been Role playing and writing fanfiction for about a decade now... this fansites abandonment trend saddens me.

Please... Let us strive to keep the fan sites that we are on alive.
